Google Context Menu

In game today, Ryddler suggested that it would be cool to have a Google search option when selecting text in the console. Sounded like fun to me! It is patch #2585 in the EL Berlios repository now. It will patch against clean CVS today. Because it changes non-awnage related areas, it should patch cleanly against an awnage source build as well. But remember, you can only use it on the test server until it is approved.

Second Annual Ryddler's Diabetes Raffle

Exp hover

I made patch 002524 to re-implement the Experience Left on Stats Bar Hover that we had a while ago in the client. It will be added back into Awnage on the next build/release.

After some help with a couple makefile switches from Awn, I have compiled the EL Awnage Client 1.7.0 for Windows. Here is the uncompressed executable. Download it to your Eternal Lands folder and run it from there.

Notes:
* The lock has been re-instituted due to widespread usage beyond the target audience.
* You will have to move 1-2 squares before all Awnage features become available. I am working on eliminating this requirement.
* Small inventory is now accomplished by right clicking the Inventory bar to get an options menu

Preparing for 1.7.0

Release candidates have been out for 1.7.0 for a couple weeks now. It looks like the full release will be occurring very shortly, as the major/minor numbers were committed to CVS yesterday. This upcoming Awnage version will unfortunately not introduce any new functionality. In fact, I am removing the "small inventory" patch because you can now do it yourself via the Inventory context menu (When you get the client, right click the Inventory window top bar to see your options).

PSA: Exiting Gracefully

Tired of accidentally logging off when trying to use an inventory item? Frustrated from disconnecting when hitting alt-x? Well, here it the solution to your woes!

1. Find your key.ini file
   (in Gentoo it is in /usr/share/games/eternal-lands/)
2. Add two very simple lines anywhere in the file:
   #K_QUIT = LALT LSHIFT x
   
   #K_QUIT_ALT = LCTRL LSHIFT q
3. ...
4. Profit!

The above example will make you need to hold down your shift key (either one actually) in order to exit. You could also change it to something like LALT F12 if you really wanted to.

Along with this, I am not going to hard-code the change into the Rivan client because this is something that everyone can do. You can look at the key.ini file and change other things if you want as well!

1.6.0 buggers

Well, good thing we did not have a general release yet. There was a CVS error where people could not see the white dragon. And, I somehow missed the CTRL/ALT 7/8 quick use.

1.6.0 released, Awnage on its way

EL has moved to version 1.6.0. I have a diff completed for the new awnage, and the linux version seems to be working correctly. The experience hover (on the sidebar) is not working due to a change on how the sidebar works. Hopefully we will compile a windows version soon.

Guild chat color patch submitted

I have submitted the guild chat color patch 002314 to the EL repository, with the light blue color. My first submitted patch of 2008.
